Mama Hope is proud to announce a new upcoming project!

We have partnered with Katherine Theus and The Refuge Orphanage Center, to build them a new orphanage facility and start a community pineapple farm.

The Refuge Orphanage Center of Bawjiase, Ghana, was founded in May of 2008 by Pastor Paul Elisha Asomoah, and has expanded to house and feed 30 children. With no viable source of income, the orphanage relies solely on volunteers and outside donations to continue day-to-day operations, including the feeding of the children, medical costs, and staff salaries.

The orphanage is being asked to vacate from their current property in the next six months, leaving them with no building in which to live. Recently purchased land provides the orphanage with space to build a new lodging facility, but no means to build it. Your donations will ensure that the orphaned children of Bawjiase have a facility that will provide a roof over their heads and a place to sleep at night, as well your donation will lead to a flourishing pineapple farm which will become a source of income generation enabling the community to support themselves in the future.

Our project coordinator Katherine Theus is deeply committed to helping the children of Bawjiase have a proper place to live, learn and grow. Construction of the new lodging facility is expected to start in September, and we will be breaking ground on the pineapple farm shortly thereafter. We ask for your continuing support in the construction of the orphanage and pineapple farm, so we can house the orphans of Ghana and provide them with a much needed income generating activity, enabling the community to provide basic life necessities of food, water, and health care to the children.

Katherine and Kevin, age 5.

"I got to spend 6 weeks with these beautiful children, and fell in love with each and every one of them. Although I’m in no position to become a mother, I wish I could have brought them home with me. Working with the children only enforced just how privileged I am to have been born into a loving family, in a place where I have the resources necessary to become a happy, healthy adult. The children of the Christian Refuge Orphanage Center were dealt a much harder hand in life, and I want to do everything I can to ease the burden they carry on their very small shoulders."   Katherine Theus
