| Clean Water Projects
Thanks to your generous support Mama Hope has assisted villages in Isiolo, Kenya, to develop sustainable systems so that they now have access to clean, potable water. In this central, desert region of Kenya, water literally is life. Students often miss out on school to walk miles to and from remote water sources, and thousands of people suffer from debilitating, but preventable, water borne illnesses. Time after time, the people of Isiolo told us their most pressing need: "Maji" or clean water.
In Kambi Garba, villagers used funds from Mama Hope to dig trenches and purchase pipes to cover the 1 kilometer distance to an existing, yet previously, inaccessible city water tap. As of August 31st, 2008, the village has access to clean drinking water!
Arimiet has used the funds to complete a borehole project that was abandoned due to lack of funding. This solar powered borehole will be connected to pipes that will bring water to the school, dispensary, police station and the church.
Thanks to your support, and the generosity of the William Zimmerman Foundation, three villages and 15,000 people now have access to clean water for drinking and irrigation.
If you wish to help bring more clean water to the people of Isiolo, please donate here.
